Awards and Martians

This is just a self-gratifying post in which I say thank you thank you thank you to my friend over at My Reflecting Pool for awarding me with the 'Be the Blog' award. Apparently, this award is for "bloggers who make their blog their own, stay with it, interact with their readers, and have fun!" Well... I definitely interact with my readers and have fun... so thanks again, Pool! I know I say it a lot, but I really don't think I can express enough just how much I love all of you. Most of you I don't know in the real world, but I couldn't be more grateful for all your advice, encouragement and support (and, of course, for the movie reviews and the laughs). And now, to stop with the cheesiness, I'll get on to my nominations:
  • Ben - I am probably overthinking this
  • Franki - Frankily Yours
  • Rachel - Lessons Learned
  • Shea - Shea of the Dead
  • Krystal - My Mind's Empiricism (you may not stay with it quite as religiously as some of us, but you always come back)
  • Angel - Superfluous Baloney (you've been a little MIA in the last couple of months, but normally you're a steady blog pal and your interactions are divine -- pun very much intended)
  • Z (err... Andy) - Control Z
  • Cara - I'm Feeling Good (you might interact a little later than everyone else... but you DO interact ;)
You guys are awesome, and I never have to wonder whether I'll have something great to read from you both on your blogs and in the comment sections of mine and others' blogs. There are others I would have nominated, too, but they were already awarded over at Pool's place.

So congrats! And, on a totally unrelated note... I promised Krystal I wouldn't post an actual review because she so rarely gets to review movies before Shea steals her thunder (her words, not mine). BUT... I do want to plug this... please please go see Martian Child. I know it might not be up all you blood-thirsty movie critics' alleys... but it was such a heartwarming, hilarious, beautiful movie. John Cusack was awesome, as always. And the little boy (Bobby Coleman) was phenomenal. I really was impressed. Now, Krystal, I expect to see a full review on your blog in the very near future. I've been holdin' out... so get to it ;)

Aww, Martha, I love knowing when you're talking about me in a post...

Thanks for the shout-out. I'm glad I'm blogging up to standards, though I have a long way to go before I come close to matching you.

well...Krystal...(snap fingers with each line) "you gotta be quick, you gotta be sharp, on the edge where i need to be"
-Al Pacino (Heat)

...but I will leave you Martian Child. I stepped into the theater and watched the last 30 and somewhere in between. I was going for the Memento style version. When I heard the name i was waiting for a martian baby to bust out of John's chest...never happened so I will leave it to you.(jk)

Thanks for leaving me with Martian Child Shea. I was pretty sure you wouldn't want to see it. But I'll get to that review now, even though it's been over a week since I saw it. Now that house sitting, baby sitting emo kids and caring for two cats, doctor's appointments, and race season are all coming to an end I'll write that review tonight.
